The same themes have been reoccurring for years in IELTS speaking part two. The details change but you can often recycle prepared material.

Let me give you an example. Here are two part two topics about people:

Describe someone you know who has an interesting job.

You should say:

who this person is

how you know this person

what job they do

and explain why you think this person’s job is interesting.

————

Describe a person you know who you think is successful.

You should say:

who he or she is

what he or she does

how you know this person

and explain why you think he or she is successful

Quite clearly it would be possible to describe the same person for both of these topics. The second one is possibly successful because he or she has an interesting job. As long as you ensure that you stay on topic and answer each of the points on the card there is no reason why you can’t adapt the same basic information about the person.

Questions about people are common and it is a good plan during your preparation to think about a variety of people that you know personally, or know of, and prepare appropriate vocabulary.

It’s an especially good plan to think about people you know from three separate age ranges; a parent figure or teacher that you admire, someone of your own age group that you like and a child or younger person.

Remember that IELTS topics are invariably positive. Plan your descriptive vocabulary so that you can talk effortlessly about talented, accomplished, adventurous people that you respect and think highly of.
